What post-operative course should be expected?
Following surgery to remove the gall bladder by key-hole (laparoscopic) surgery, the patient will be able to go home 1–2 days after the operation and return to full activity and work by 2 weeks. In the event that open surgery is required, the patient should be able to go home 4-5 days after the operation and return to work 3-4 weeks after surgery.
When can driving be resumed?
Patients may resume driving when they can perform an emergency stop comfortably, at approximately 2 to 4 weeks.
